General Information

SARA, created in 1937, is one of many active river authorities in the State of Texas. Its jurisdiction covers 3,658 square miles - all of Bexar, Wilson, Karnes and Goliad Counties. SARA provides many services within the San Antonio River watershed, including water and wastewater utility services, flood control, flood mapping, environmental monitoring, project management, and ecosystem restoration. In addition, SARA owns and operates a number of outdoor recreational facilities to enable people to experience and appreciate the San Antonio River and its tributaries. Throughout the year, SARA hosts educational events and programs at park sites throughout the watershed.
