Description:

Just in time for Halloween, find out the truth about these flying mammals!

Join us to learn the truth about these flying mammals, and how they help people and nature. Then we’ll head out with a bat detector to see how many types of bats we can spot! Masks are highly encouraged, and physical distancing guidelines will be in place.

Due to statewide COVID-19 restrictions, this event is limited to 10 people, and preregistration is required. Register here: https://www.eventbrite.com/e/bat-walk-tickets-125221782723

Who: The whole family! All ages welcome. No dogs, please.

Bring: Bring a flashlight or headlamp for when it gets dark! Also bring drinking water, dress for the weather, and wear close-toed shoes. Face coverings are highly encouraged.

Meet: In front of the Discovery Center.

Know before you go: This program involves sitting at the amphitheater for about 30 minutes, then walking an easy trail with some stairs, and standing. It will be dusk and then dark during the latter half of this program. In order to comply with statewide COVID-19 guidelines, and to keep everyone safe, we will be practicing physical distancing during this program. Masks are highly recommended.

Cost/registration:  Park programs are free with a Texas State Parks pass or park entrance fee - $7 per person ages 13 and up, kids 12 and under are always free!

**Important! Please reserve your park Day Pass reservation online ahead of time to guarantee park entrance (even if you have an Annual Parks Pass). You can do this up to 30 days in advance with your credit card, or for free with your Annual Texas State Park Pass. If you don't have a reservation and the park is sold out, you will not be able to enter the park. During the fall we normally sell out of weekend Day Use passes about a week in advance. Check availability and reserve a Day Pass online here: https://texasstateparks.reserveamerica.com/

Ask us! We want our programs to be a fun outdoor experience for all. If there's anything we can do to help, please ask, either via email or phone, or at the time of the program.
