Description:

Join us on this beautiful trail!

Join us at the Bauer Unit and hike the beautiful Curry Creek Overlook Trail! This trail winds through hardwood forests and large rocks riddled with fossils, and gives a beautiful view of Curry Creek far below. Along the way you'll find out about the nature and history of this area.

**Registration and COVID considerations: Due to COVID-19 protocols, this program is limited to 10 people, and registration is required.

To register, please email Ranger Holly: holly.platz@tpwd.texas.gov

In your email, please include:

- The name, date and time of the program you wish to register for.

- The total number in your party, including infants.

- A good phone number to reach you (text message ability preferred)

During the program itself, we will be following physical distancing protocols, and face coverings are highly encouraged.**

Who: The whole family! All ages welcome. Friendly dogs on leash are welcome.

Bring: Wear good walking shoes, dress for the weather, and bring plenty of drinking water.

Know before you go: This moderate to challenging hike is about 3.5 miles round-trip. Trail is mostly level, with some rocky areas, small elevation changes, and narrow pathways. The Bauer Unit is primitive in nature: there is no running water, no restrooms, and no trash cans. Plan ahead and be prepared!

Meet: at the Bauer Unit parking lot at 10 am sharp! Please note that it takes approximately 30  minutes to drive from the Main Park Headquarters to the Bauer Unit.

If you already have a Day Use or Camping reservation, you do not need to stop by the Main Park Headquarters first.

Directions to the Bauer Unit from the Park Headquarters (do NOT use your GPS, or it will route you to the main park entrance! ):

Turn right onto Highway 46 from Park Road 31. Go 3 miles and turn right on FM 3351. Go approx. 3.5 miles and turn right on Edge Falls Road. Continue for 2.4 miles and turn right on Acker Road. Go 2.2 miles to entrance.

To see a trails map, which includes these directions on the lower right-hand corner, click on the link for "more information about this program".

Cost:  Park programs are free with a Texas State Parks pass or park entrance fee - $7 per person ages 13 and up, kids 12 and under are always free!

Ask us! We want our programs to be a fun outdoor experience for all. If there's anything we can do to help, please ask, either via email or phone, or at the time of the program.

Important! The park normally sells out of Day Pass reservations a few days to a week in advance, so please reserve your park Day Pass reservation online ahead of time, before signing up for this program. You can do this up to 30 days in advance with your credit card, or for free with your Annual Texas State Park Pass. Check availability and reserve a Day Pass online here: https://texasstateparks.reserveamerica.com/

If for any reason you are unable to attend, please cancel your reservation as soon as possible so that we are able to accommodate another reservation request for this very limited number program.
