Description:

Cinco de Mayo celebrates General Zaragoza's victory at the Battle of Puebla on May 5, 1862, a victory that was as extraordinary as the General himself.

Celebrate Cinco de Mayo with the man who made it all possible! Born in Goliad, TX, Ignacio Zaragoza was destined to become the highly respected, extremely dedicated, and dangerously compassionate General Zaragoza. This "child of Texas and hero of Mexico" is best known for his underdog victory at the Battle of Puebla, keeping the French invasion from reaching Mexico City in 1862. However, only telling of his victory is leaving some of the most interesting things about Gen. Zaragoza missing from his story. Join us inside the Birthplace of General Zaragoza as we tell the story of how a kid born in Texas became one of Mexico's greatest heroes.

Program takes place at the Birthplace of Ignacio Zaragoza, located near Presidio la Bahia.

There is no fee to attend the program.
