Help a park ranger solve a wildlife mystery!

How can we find out what animals have been out and about at Hill Country State Natural Area? By using tracks! Join a park ranger on the Merrick Mile to discover wildlife tracks, scat, and more. The Merrick Mile is an unpaved, easy-moderate trail with a slight elevation gain, so get ready for an adventure!

• We will meet right outside of headquarters.
• Length: One hour, one-mile trail.
• What to bring: Water, sturdy hiking shoes, hats, and sunscreen. Tracking guides optional.
• Fees: Free with park admission. Park entrance fees are $6 per adult (13 years of age and older), free for children under 13.
• Note: Trail Detectives is subject to cancellation due to weather and trail conditions. Be sure to call headquarters the day of the hike to ask if the trails are open!
